The aim
was partly to create a landmark for the Technical University of Denmark (DTU),
and partly to build facilities for artists who wish to make experiments in
collaboration with the technical scientific staff of DTU.
The
building is an elaboration of the system of co- ordinates at DTU, where the
third axis is placed in the zero point of the plane system of co- ordinates.
This third axis is designed as an illuminated mast, stiffened by cables and
nearly 100 metres tall, vanishing upwards due to its slenderness.
The
structures of the lower parts of the mast have short transmissions of forces to
the foundations. This makes the building economic.
