The
Church of Gammel Holte is built in reinforced brickwork, the purposes of which
are to give a specific architectural appearance, and
to obtain a minimal
use of materials.
The
hexagonal roof was assembled on the ground and lifted into position by a mobile
crane.
The
solution is exceptional because of a difficult site and a limited budget. It won
first prize in a Danish architectural competition in 1975.
For
the construction of the church the engineering firm Erik Reitzel collaborated
with the architects Halldor Gunnløgsson and Jørn Nielsen.
